At The FitClub Academy (TFA), an official ACE Education Partner for India, we love celebrating stories of transformation — trainers who turn passion into purpose through education. One such inspiring story is that of Priya Bhat, an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and TFA Strength and Conditioning Mentorship graduate from Bangalore, whose journey from Zumba instructor to specialized fitness professional is a testament to lifelong learning and dedication.
Priya’s journey into fitness began with dance. “I started as a Zumba trainer,” she recalls. “It was fun and exciting, but I soon realized it wasn’t enough. My strength was declining, and I knew I had to learn more.” That realization pushed her to explore new avenues. She got certified in Pilates and Yoga, and later pursued her Strength and Conditioning Mentorship with TFA, before finally earning her ACE Personal Trainer Certification. Each step helped her grow not just as an instructor but as a movement professional.
Today, Priya works primarily with clients dealing with diastasis recti, umbilical hernia, and post-surgical recovery. Her clientele also includes general fitness clients and those with specific health challenges. “Every client’s body is different,” she explains. “ACE helped me understand how to tailor programs for everyone — from pregnant women to cardiac patients to people recovering from surgeries.” She believes that ACE’s structured and scientific curriculum helped her develop not just technical expertise, but also the confidence and empathy required to train diverse populations safely and effectively.
For Priya, the ACE certification opened doors to both professional credibility and self-belief. “When I say I’m ACE certified, the respect I receive is very different. People trust my knowledge and the way I apply it. It’s not just a certification — it’s an identity.” She also emphasizes that ACE education helped her understand her professional scope. “You’re not a doctor or nutritionist,” she says. “ACE teaches you boundaries — what you can and can’t do, and that’s essential for responsible practice.”
Priya’s experience with TFA stood out to her as one of the most valuable parts of her education. “There’s a big difference between just selling certifications and truly mentoring students. TFA is different — they make sure you understand every concept deeply before you teach others. They don’t just create trainers; they shape educators who can genuinely change lives.” She fondly remembers the support she received from her mentors at TFA, calling it a turning point in her professional development.
Balancing her fitness career with motherhood, Priya credits her supportive family for making it possible. “It’s never a one-person show,” she smiles. “My kids and family are my biggest supporters. They’ve even started adopting healthy habits just by watching me.” For her, fitness begins at home — and she believes that children learn best by example. “Kids don’t learn through words; they learn through observation. When they see parents being active, they naturally follow.”
Her biggest reward as a trainer, Priya says, comes from the feedback of her clients. “When a client tells me they can bend, sit, or climb stairs comfortably again, that’s the real success. I started this journey to make a difference in people’s lives, and every positive change reminds me why I do this.” For Priya, knowledge and empathy go hand in hand. “You can’t help someone if you don’t understand what they need. Knowledge gives you that understanding.”
Looking ahead, Priya hopes to expand her reach to clients who are unable to visit gyms due to medical or mobility issues. “I want to reach people who are sick, in pain, or homebound, and help them become fit enough to face life confidently,” she says. Her mission reflects her belief that fitness isn’t about perfection — it’s about empowerment.
When asked to describe her ACE journey in one word, Priya doesn’t hesitate: “Amazing.” Her story is a shining example of what happens when passion meets education — when curiosity evolves into competence, and when a trainer transforms into a teacher.
