My Story
I started my journey in health and fitness while still doing my undergraduate degree in Bengaluru. I loved training people and soon built a community of 350+ clients who trained together under my guidance. This was not a fancy gym – it was about creating a space for people to move, train, and improve their health.
When I saw how fitness could change lives, I decided to learn more and become a certified fitness professional. My first big step was earning the ACE Certified Personal Trainer certification, an international credential trusted all over the world. That gave me the confidence to grow and teach others.
Building TFA – A Dream to Mentor Trainers
During this time, I realized something important: India had amazing, passionate trainers, but most didn’t have access to proper education or international certifications. Many of us learned from YouTube or copied exercise programs without knowing the science behind them.
So, I decided to change that. I founded The Fitclub Academy - TFAÂ with one big goal:
To mentor trainers and raise the quality of fitness education in India
Through TFA, I built courses and workshops that have already trained over 1200 fitness professionals. Our focus has always been on science-based training, teaching trainers how to coach safely and effectively, and preparing them for internationally recognized certifications. My greatest desire has always been to see Indian trainers respected globally for their knowledge and professionalism.
Expanding My Knowledge – Going Global
But I didn’t stop there. I wanted to understand the science behind movement – not just how to lift weights but how the body and brain work together to make movement possible.
I studied hard and got selected for a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science (Kinesiology) at the University of Florida (UF), USA – ranked #7 in the world (1).
I had numerous learning opportunities throughout my MS degree:
-
Teaching university students – imagine teaching at one of the world's top univesities, getting evaluated as a top performing instructor!
-
Working with Gators Football (one of the top American football teams) as a sports scientist – where I learned how world-class athletes are trained and monitored.
- Working at an American Gym as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor and coach - (special thanks to my ACE certification) that got me an on campus job as a Fitness Professional
After my Master’s degree, I continued my studies with a Ph.D. in Movement Science, focusing on how the brain controls movement and how it changes with aging and neurological diseases like Parkinson’s.
What I’ve Achieved
-
Taught thousands of students in the USA and India
-
Worked with a variety of clients including elite athletes and professional teams.
-
Presented research at world conferences.
- Gained recognition from ACE and EREPS as a Master Trainer
-
Published books and research in fitness and movement science.
-
Mentored hundreds of trainers in India through TFA, helping them build strong careers.
.......And it all started in a Bengaluru gym, training everyday people.
What This Means for You
-
I started like you, as a trainer - and expanded my impact globally and you can too.
-
International certifications (like ACE) can open doors worldwide.
-
Mentorship and community are powerful – it's important to learn from mentors with legitimate qualifications, the right network can propell your career globally!
-
If you’re willing to work hard, keep learning, and never give up, you can go from training clients in Bengaluru to presenting at global fitness and neuroscience conferences.
My Message to You
I started as a trainer, but I wanted to make a difference – first for my clients, then for other trainers, and now through global research. If I can do it, you can too.
Your journey can start today. Learn, grow, and give back to the community. That’s how we change the future of fitness in India.
